The capital of the Czech Republic, Prague, holds one of the most stunning Libraries in the world: The Clementinum Library.  The beautiful baroque style building was first opened in 1722 and at one time the Clementinum was known as the third largest Jesuit college in the world.

Today the library covers an astounding area of 20,000 square meters and houses over 22.000 books. When you enter the Clementinum it’s not hard to understand why this is one of the most breathtaking libraries in the world. The amazing ceiling frescoes make that you are completely surrounded by art. The Ceiling frescoes were painted by Jan Hiebl, depicting allegorical motifs of education, and portraits of Jesuit saints, patrons of the university and prominent representatives of this order.

Besides being beautiful it also has some of the most rare historical book collection from which a small collection has been sent to Google for scanning so it could be made available on Google Books for an even larger audience..
